Anchor Babies?

I am as Patriotic as they come. Being here illegally is against the law. Babies born to illegals should be illegal. BUT, I saw this cartoon and laughed so I wanted to share it.

JJ my kitty angel

I think about JJ every day. More than a few times during the day and at night. He used to wait for me on the dock by a certain dock box each evening. I turn the corner and pause at the spot he used to be at. I can see him in my minds eye. Last night I was grilling chicken and I swear I felt him standing at my feet waiting for a hand out. I feel him in the boat almost every nite.
I miss JJ.
Be a good boy JJ....

Marina shower

I am repairing my shower floor, therefore I cannot use my shower. So, I must go to our marina showers. I grabed my towel and took my bag of soap, etc and started my long walk down the dock to the showers. Our showers are in the restrooms of what is now a public and very busy restaurant! Yes, restaurant. I go in,LOCK the entry door and pick a shower stall. I tried to find the cleanest. That's a joke. I closed the frosted door with NO lock and hung my towel over the door so there is no view of me in case someone came in. I showered with my flip flops on. Rushed through it, partially dried off because I could hardley wait to get out of there. Now, I have my shower cap on, my house dress and my towel. I go out to the mirror in the restroom and found quite a few women in there with their children. I showered at around 7:00pm hoping it might be empty. They gave me a strange long stare as I took of my shower cap and fluffed my hair with the towel. Smelling of fresh soap, I sloshed out of there with my soaked flip flops making a loud squeaky sound with each step. As I came squeaking out of the building the husbands of the women in the restroom were standing outside and couldn't help but turn and stare at me squeaking and sloshing to the marina gate and down the dock I went. Not making eye contact with anyone. The only thing positive I could mention is the shower head, it was great!

I can't think of a title

I often look to see if I have more followers. But I don't. I kind of feel thats ok, not a lot of people are reading my "blah, blah, blah's". Blogging has turned out to be a great place to post news or thoughts. Right now I have so many thoughts, I don't know where to start. Alot going on, and that's a good thing. I can't say my life is boring.

Where's my Panacea?

Ever have a day where everything goes wrong? Everything seems to be going bad around me. Maybe its just today, maybe I should remind myself that things happen for a reason and "This too shall pass"

4th of July

I haven't posted in a while. I don't know why, I just haven't. This past weekend was the 4th of July. Leo and I had a great celebration with alot of patriotic people. Ate alot, relaxed and waited for the fireworks. Sang along to the patriotic songs, had a blast. On Monday, I went to run on the beach. Ran in the water up to my knees. The deep sound of the ocean drowns out any "noise" in my head, it is truly a ZEN moment.

Welcome Home Atlantis

After 25 years of service, the space shuttle Atlantis made what will likely be its final landing Wednesday at Cape Canaveral.
NASA is pushing to fly Atlantis one more time, in June 2011, for another supply run to the space station, but that would need approval from the WHITE HOUSE.
Please email, call or write to the WHITE HOUSE in support of our space program.

Got the Blues?

Yes!! The Blues as in Carl Weathersby. My trucker is Carl's brother. It is amazing how we come in contact with people that know or are related to famous people. I love being a "fan". I get goo-goo over celebrities.

LOST IN SPACE

The Astronauts who will likely be the last to ever fly aboard a ship in the current space shuttle fleet were scheduled to arrive in Florida today. When they lift off this Thursday, it will mark the beginning of the end of a program that paved the way for numerous breakthroughs in space observation and exploration. Ending our shuttle program will leave the U.S.A. dependent on foreigh countries for transportation to the ISS (international space station). Lets hope and pray that lawmakers will give the program a last minute reprieve!

Our Earth in May

Couldn't resist...

I will quote Jon Voight, a true American Patriot:

"President Obama feeds people poison, giving them the idea that they are entitled to take from the wealthier who have lived and worked in a democracy that understands that capitalism is the only truth that keeps a nation healthy...Obama uses a socialistic, Marxist teaching, and with it, he rapes this nation."

Chocolate Covered Strawberry SEASON!

Yummmm. I haven"t blogged for awhile. Not because I have nothing to say, quite the opposite, so much has been going on I don't know where to start. Lots going on with my work. Not only has regular business picked up, but the new company I am involed in starting up is finally getting exposure. Whew, what a road I have been on. I am not complaining, I Love It! With summertime coming, I have boat projects to tend to, taning, more running, clothes shopping(smaller size!),work, work, work, then...yummmm, chocolate covered strawberries.

Food Outing

Leo took me on an outing that I am still thinking about. First, we went to OINKSTERS.
This restaurant was on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on the Food network. We shared a pork sandwich and a pastrami sandwich with Belgium french fries. Absolutley the best pork and fries. Next, we went to an authentic Italian Bakery. Yummmm, picked up desserts and garlic bread. Next, we went to Galkos. A vintage candy and pop market.
We picked up Sasparillo, orange cream soda etc.... I must visit again. Today, I am back to whole wheat pita with cucumbers, sushi, tuna salad, egg whites and drinking my vegis.

Fatal Attraction or Territorial?

Segulls are seeing a reflection of themselves in the windows of my boat. They are hitting my windows with their beeks, drooling all over my windows, which is drying and looking quite bad. Not to mention how anoying it is. I just found out this happens in spring and summer. It could be for a couple of reasons. #1: They are attracted to the bird in the relection, not realizing it is their own reflection. #2: They are being territorial, and attacking the reflection. I have lived on my boat for 6 years, and this is the first year this is happening. ALL DAY. In any case, I don't care what the reason is, I am tempted to sprinkle chili powder on my windows to rid them. I have a cat that is extremley vocal and now birds that won't stop attacking my windows, sea lions barking and lying on the dock, star fish on the rocks...I need more human contact...

"I TELL YA"...

If not for Leo, my bilge pump would probably still not be working. He tackles my boat issues with a sense of urgency. I could not express my appreciation for this man enough. I tell ya, he is a rare breed. And I'll tell ya some more, I had to cut our Sunday off short because I am at work. Yes, work on a Sunday. He didn't complain. Our schedules are busy, and we usally just spend one night out of the week together (Saturday nite). We make the most of it, good meals, good conversation, lots of laughs!! May 17th will be 2 years together. 2 very good years, (not counting my mood swings). We are hearts on fire :)
Peace & Love...

8 Days a week

I need an extra day in the week. There is so much to plan and get done on my boat. I still have the leak, but more important is that my bilge pumps don't work. I can live with a leak, but not with pumps that don't work. I painted the "head", I then had the bright idea to remove the mirrors on the cabinet faces. A new glass tile backsplash is in my plans for the "galley". Then...painting the HULL. I am going to do it myself with the help of a dock mate. New outdoor cushions, then, voila....I still have an old boat.(sigh). I found out recently that the new marina is full over capacity for live-aboards, with over 200 on a waiting list for any kind of slip. Looks like I may become a "landlubber" again.

Can you say TSUNAMI?

We had a Tsunami warning this weekend. Our tide was out so low that the dock was sitting on the rocks. The only fatalities was probably 2 starfish. Other than that it was pretty calm. It was amazing to see the currents in the water. The tide came in pretty fast.
My bilge is another story. Lots of water. Hopefully from the rain. I will check it again soon.

Row, Row, Row your boat...

That's exactly what I might be doing if the rains don't stop. My engine room bilge pump does not work and (with help) I manually bailed out 156 gallons of water! The water seeped through the bulk heads to the bow-bilge. That was last weekend. I will see what happens this weekend since it is suppose to rain tomorrow.

Where are my followers?

For some reason my list of followers does not show. Can anyone tell me why?

LOW---RI---DER----

I had a wonderful Valentine weekend. Went to a gathering in Palm Springs AND, Harold Brown was there AND Leo and I had him and his girlfriend over for dinner!! AND Harold said he will have us over for dinner, he will cook Ox Tails! Yikes. Harold Brown cooking for us!!? YES, Harold Brown of WAR. I was such a groupie this weekend, I will never out grow being a groupie. He is a hip and groovy man. His sincerity for music, his character, his love for telling his story comes through in his Aura. Something mystical about him. I was in his studio...sat in his chair...he played his new song....it has a gospel feel to it...Leo is also a musician. He plays every other Wednesday in Little Tokoyo. Leo also makes up blues songs about me! He will play his harp and sings to me. Love it. Thats him in the beret.

R.I.P. Captian Phil

I am speechless and sad. Captian Phil was my favorite on Deadliest Catch. I would not miss a show when it first came out. I watched it for about 2-3 years.

Monday Monday

Remember the song "If your going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair"...? I had that song in my head last Wednesday as I flew to SF.
So, today my daughter's web site has launched. www.commongroundfilms.com
She's headed to Cannes! I hope. I found it interesting that she also twitters. It was quite fun reading her comments. I noticed she went to see the Fabulous Lakers (as she calls them) last Wednesday. And she got a speeding ticket. I found out more just reading her twitter, then I do when we speak. I am getting the hang of this internet communicating. I think I may twitter and I may start my own facebook.

Martini's & Rack of Lamb!

Yes, Martini's and (not just lamb) RACK of Lamb, yummmmm. That's just two of my favorite things.
My highlights from this weekend:
I got in touch with old family relatives. The TEXAN ROOTS. There is a sort of unsaid bond that just happens with family. No matter how long it has been, memories hold us together. The very familiar feelings all came back with just a hug.
My mother and I had lunch at Sizzler's ALL you can eat salad bar. Its not delicious, but it is good and it is ALL you can eat.
Ahhhh, back on the boat. JJ (my cat) gave me the cold shoulder because I was gone all weekend. He soon came around and was loving on me. Then quicker than I can blink an eye, it was time to set my alarm and here I am, Monday at work.

Red sky at morning

Sailor take warning! Looks like rain. Who needs a weather man when the sky tells me all I need to know. Simple things are always the best, especially simple pleasures. My cat JJ seems to be more and more vocal in the early, and I mean early mornings. I don't know what is up with him. I am still jogging. I need to jog, not only for weight but for a healthy body. Getting back to simple pleasures. Here's a partial list of mine: chocolate, down comforter, good music, dark chocolate, mom and dad, my daugher, my very vocal cat, my boat, ocean, summer sky (sounds corny, but true), sleeping in, tazo calm tea!!

Good-Bye 2009

Happy New Year!!
I am ready for a great 2010. I just spent 4 days in Las Vegas and had a wonderful time. Leo's mother makes the best biscotti's around, I couldn't stop eating them. I am surprized they didn't hide them from me :)
Leo and I visited PAWN STARS the reality show on the History channel, got autographs and pictures. Great guys.
Now, I am back at work looking forward to a new business venture. Always trying for that "pot of gold".
